72 year old Texas woman is tased by Deputy
On May 11, 2009 around 2:00pm Deputy Chris Bieze, pull over 72 year old Kathryn Winkfein of Austin Texas for speeding. The 72 year old great grandma stated to the deputy that she hadn’t did anything wrong.
The deputy said that Winkfein was speeding on a dangerous stretch of road. But Kathryn told the deputy that she was a 72 year old woman and continuously said that she had done nothing wrong.
After Deputy Bieze completed his paperwork, he approached Winkfein’s vehicle and asked her to sign off on the ticket, but Winkein refused the deputy’s request.
Officer Beize explained to Winkfein that if she didn’t sign the ticket, he would be forced to arrest her, Winkfein told the deputy to take her to jail and again said that she was a 72 year old woman. Deputy Bieze then opened the door of Winkfeins vehicle and proceeded to arrest her.
After Winkfein saw that the Deputy was obliging her request of being arrested, Winkfein told the Deputy to give her the ticket, but I guess her exceptance of the ticket was to late, because Winkfein shouted out oh you are gonna push a 72 year old woman? Bieze said that he pushed the 72 year old because he was trying to get them both to safety and out of on-coming traffic.
After the Bieze had secured himself and Winkfein to safety, he ordered 72 year old Winkfein to step back, but Winkfein did not obey the order, the Deputy gave the 72 year old 5 warning to either step back or be tased. But Winkfein continued to refuse the Deputies orders, and she was tased by the deputy.
I understand that the Deputy had to do his job, but you mean to tell me that this Deputy couldn’t subdue a 72 year old woman without the use of a taser! This Deputy makes me wonder if he had to use a taser on a 72 year old woman, what would he use on someone younger who refused to sign a ticket.
